They are waiting for their I-130 petitions (petition for relative) to be approved. The current waiting time is 5 years. </p> <p class="homebody"> While they wait, their spouse and child are not allowed to enter the U.S., even for a brief visit. The permanent resident, on the other hand, must reside predominantly in the U.S., otherwise they lose their permanent residency status.<br /></p><p class="homebody">Immigration law is splitting them!!!</p><p class="homebody">It's pretty disappointed to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars in taxes just to see how your family remains away and nothing you can do to change the situation within the law, this is the normal US permanent resident situation... but hopefully this situation will change soon!</p><p class="homebody">The hope: US Congress bills H.R.2709, H.R.1024, S.1085 and S.424.</p><p class="homebody">They all establish the same priority for spouses of US permanent residents in the same way is now for US citizens, without any wait!</p><p class="homebody">Bill H.R. 2709 : Sen.
